As the weather turns colder, and the ducks begin to move in, the pool committee has made the decision to close the swimming pool for the season effective immediately.
The club kitchen and bar will be open on ANZAC Day, Friday 25th April.
All meat raffles in April include a bonus tin of ANZAC biscuits. All profits from these raffles held this month will be going direct to the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services Association Inc registered charity.

Friday, 2nd of May is our annual duck calling competition.
We’ll have prizes for Best Duck Call, Best Dressed Duck, the person who laughs the most and a few others. Last years winner will be there.
This was an incredibly fun night last year, with a LOT of laughter and variety in duck calls. Please put your name on the list at the bar to get a lucky prize.

Thanks to the AG Research Campus management and security, the Wairere Road gates will now be open until 7:30pm Wednesday – Friday. Don’t worry if you stay a little later, we can let you out through the barriers on Ruakura Lane.

An update from the Ruakura Darts King/Queen of the Campus competition
Overall winner was Kelemete from Jedi Darts.
Runner up was Tai Clay from Te Rapa Sports.
Plate winner was Oliver Hendl from Jedi Darts.
Runner up was Dave Shute from Ruakura Darts.
3 round winner was Derek from Ruakura Darts.
Runner up was Karl Roy from Ruakura Darts.
Was a fantastic day with 28 players.

Valentines, darts and exercise!
Peter & the committee are planning lots of theme nights, the odd trivia event and of course our famous dinners. Here’s a few to get us started off right in February.
This Friday is our first theme night of the year – Valentines Day.
Bring your valentine along, dress up for the occasion and be in to win prizes.
The kitchen will have fish, chips and salad on the menu.
Sunday 16th February is the annual HMC Blueberry Fun Run & Walk.
Starts at 9am, registration open from 7.30am over at Blueberry Country in Ohaupo.

Ruakura Darts Club
Hopefully you have seen the many new darts boards around the club, and met a few of the new faces responsible.
The Ruakura Darts Club are a new addition to the club and keen to welcome anyone and everyone, no matter the skill level to have a go and learn the sport.
We’re hosting a darts muster event on Wednesday 19th February at 6.30pm for all those who want to give it a go or join the league.

Darts league nights will be on Wednesdays – the club and kitchen! will be open for all RCC members and guests. Club nights will be Fridays, this offers a more casual opportunity for everyone to join in.
Swimming pool keys & bands
After some trials and tribulations with equipment and leaks the swimming pool is now clean, filled, and ready to swim in. Our huge thanks to Grant, Mark & Linda for their work getting the pool ready.
Keys and bands may be collected from the RCC Clubroom at the following times:
- Tuesday, 31st December 2024 1:00pm – 2:00pm
- Thursday, 2nd January 2025 11:00am – 1:00pm
- Friday, 3rd January 2025 11:00am – 1:00pm
For those with access cards, they should be working to allow you in through the barrier arms on Ruakura Lane.
EFTPOS is available for those that have not yet paid.
Please bring your membership card if you have one, and last years key/bands (if applicable)
The club will reopen on Wednesday, 8th January 2025 at 4:30pm, keys and bands will also be available while the bar is open.
Quiz night reminder, and Tennis!
A great big THANK YOU to those that helped out with the pool working bee. The team is working on getting the pool stable and ready to open, watch this space for news.
The tennis courts are currently undergoing some much needed TLC (weeding, lichen/moss, and removing all the leaf litter). Megan reports that the courts will be ready at the end of November.
The tennis club is an RCC sub-club, membership is $20 per year (after paying RCC membership) and keys are a one time payment of $15 (return your key when you renew your tennis membership next year and we’ll swap the key at no cost)
The tennis courts are available to key holders all year round.

Captain Pete has hoisted the Jolly Roger and filled the treasure chest for a swashbuckling “Talk Like a Pirate Day” this Friday, 20th September at the club.
Sharpen yer pirate lingo and impress the crew with yer best “Arrr!” and “Ahoy!”
Don yer finest pirate garb and strut yer stuff. The best-dressed pirate will be crowned the Pirate King or Queen and win a fabulous prize!
Eye patches, tricorn hats, and parrots on shoulders are highly encouraged!
Whether ye be a young deckhand or a seasoned sea dog, there’s fun to be had for everyone.
So, polish yer cutlasses and prepare to set sail for an evening of pirate fun. We can’t wait to see ye there, mateys!

Thank you to all those that participated in the Daffodil Day balloon tying event. It was most entertaining and a fun night for all. We’ve got two events coming up for you, join in and show your continuing support of the club – All members (and guests) are welcome! Wear an eye patch, a hook or peg leg, a velvet coat, whatever makes you feel like a pirate. I’m sure Pete has a tricorn hat or two in his vast collection. Come along dressed and talking like a pirate, thar be prizes available me hearties! Great to see the club busy on Friday nights, the burgers are still selling very well – particularly the Beer, Burger and chips $20 special (beef, fish, chicken or vegan patties) The meat raffle will be available this Friday. |
